Currently advertised as 'A brand new band in town', the support for Astrid on the 6th of October, will be the new band formed by Richard Walters and various ex-members of Wonderland.
There are also several emerging stories about the Point. Firstly, last weekend at the Vade Mecum gig, quite a few of the punters were ided by the landlord, and those who could not prove that they were over 18 were not allowed in. This came as a shock, as it always seemed that the Point was an over 16 venue. Current theories about why the landlord decided to do this mainly seem to be around the impending hearing by the city council about the applications for a nightclub license for the Point. This raises the issue for the second item. If they do get the nightclub license then it would mean the end for the Point as a music venue, and leave us with only the Zodiac as a regular venue in town. This hearing will take place next Monday, 2nd October, and isn't supposed to be open to the public, unless you have written a letter of complaint. However The Pub is supposed to have posted up a letter about the proposed plan 28 days in advance of the hearing, so that if people were to complain they would know where to send their letter. In anycase as people have not been able to complain properly a lovely bunch of people involved in local music are planning to protest outside the Town Hall, if they are not allowed into the hearing. The meeting is to take place at 6pm, and the more people there are outside the Town Hall, the greater our chance of getting the point (no pun intended) across.

19/08/00 Canola have split up. This is because Josh and Siobhan are moving back to Canada. They are doing this intially for a few months, and may come back next year. They haven't yet ruled out the chance of reforming the band if they come back.>
