There seems to be even more movement in the Animal House camp. Reported in this week's Melody Maker, their debut EP, "Animal House EP" will be released on Boilerhouse records on 15th November.

Canola's debut single made no. 30 in the indie charts!

Animal House will be playing a gig at the Zodiac on 11th December.
Plastic Cowboy records will be releasing a 7" EP entitled "Oxford" in November which will feature four local groups, Whispering Bob, Cody, Four Storeys and Samurai Seven.

It seems that Dustball have decided to call it a day. However there is a likelihood that the band will return with a new name and new line-up.
Similarly Polysoul have also split up. This has probably happened so that Richard Walters can focus on his solo work.
Canola's new single has been put back to 18th October.

Better start saving up. In mid October Brookes is having a whole week of gigs. So far it is:
Sun 24th October Feeder
Mon 25 October Travis
Thu 28 October Longpigs
Sat 30 October Gomez
The Shirehorses will also be playing there in september at the Brookes freshers fair with support from Dustball.....better befriend a student then!

Even worse news than the ending of local music shows, is the closure of Chalky's in Oxford. This will have a massive effect on the local music scene, as the store has played such a massive part in promoting local music, and for finding those hard to find indie records, that the major stores will never stock.

Yet another show about the local music scene is facing the end. The Oxford Channel have decided to scrap Sound Stage. Click here for more information.

Gorky's Zygotic Mynci will be playing at the Point on the 10th August. They will be supported by Hester Thrale.

Not really local music news, but The Shifty Disco released Frigid Vinegar single, Dogmanaut 2000, will be re-released on Gut Records on 9th August.

Canola are taking part in the Pandamonium in London. This is to conicide with a soon to be released single on the Fierce Panda label.

Good news! Jamie from Dustball has fully begun to break his strings during his set again!

The Latest on Oxstock seems that Supergrass will be unable to play. Originally the festival was moved back from its provisional date in June to late summer so that Supergrass could play.

However there is still one festival that is going ahead. Truck 99. It's on 10th and 11th July and will feature local bands such as Dustball, Samurai Seven, ATL and Whispering Bob.
