The future of the Charlbury festival is under threat. Co-promotor Josh has told nunuworld that from next year they will have to pay for police cover at the event. This means that to cover costs the festival will have to start charging people to watch. Currently, as the festival is free, there is a great mix of people, from grandparents to babies, but if the charge is imposed then the grannies and grandpas will be less likely to come along to just have a look, thus losing that special Charlbury atmosphere.
Event 2000 is cancelled, due to internal wrangling between departments of the County Council. Although the festival was to be a council supported event, another council was reluctant for the land to be used.
