Yesterday's Point meeting was cancelled at the last minute. Some people have said that the meeting has just been postponed, but others report that the reason is that the brewery have decided to withdraw their proposal, as it seemed that it would have not been able to go through anyway.

Well the troops were mobilised and about 50-70 people turned up at the the Town Hall last monday (2nd October) evening. After waiting around in a hall for 30mins or so, it turned out that the meeting regarding the licence application has been postponed. The rumour was that the date would be 23rd November, but many guess it may be sooner than that. However you will only be allowed in the meeting if you have written a letter of formal complaint. The complaint has to be one on legal grounds, such as the noise caused by the nightclub, and not just that it may mean the death of another venue. Your letter should be addressed to:
Mr A Solaja
Environmental Health Community Services
